Serpins Super+Family

Table for Technical Appendix

Diagnostic sites for six groups of vertebrate serpin proteins, computed using, according to the list of sequences, the sequences 1-3 & 5-12 for Group 1, 17-21 & 23-47 & 56-60 for Group 2, and all the sequences for the remaining groups.

Column 1 lists the six groups of vertebrate serpin proteins and the Column 2 lists, for Groups 1 to 4, all amino acid sites that discriminate the group in question when compaired with the other 3 ones from the first four groups. For Groups 5 and 6 (encompassing too few sequences to allow a definitive judgement) only some discriminating sites are listed that discriminate this group from all other groups.

The amino acid sequence numbering system for mature human alpha1-antitrypsin is used (and the corresponding sites from our multiple alignment are added in square brackets [...]).
