RNAMovies - FAQ

Question : The submission page just shows the phrase: "You have to activate Java in order to use RNAMovies".
Answer : The online version of RNAMovies is a Java applet that requires a valid installation of Java 1.5. The Java plugin has to be activated properly. Please have a look at our How To's how to activate Java in your browser.

Question : The RNAMovies applet is loaded correctly, but when submitting data nothing happens.
Answer : This problem occurs if you have disabled your browser's support for JavaScript. As RNA Movies uses JavaScript as an intermidiate layer to transfer data from the submission form to the applet you should activate it in order to use RNA Movies.

Question :Though I've installed a suitable Java version (≥1.5) Java Webstart does not work on my Unix like (Linux, Solaris, ...) system!
Answer : This is especially a problem on unix like systems. See this install instructions for detailed description. Sometimes the only thing is that the browser does not know anything about how to handle Java network Launching Protocol (JNLP) files. In this case the user is asked for a suitable application to handle this kind of files. The correct application you can find in $JAVA_HOME/bin/javaws or $JAVA_HOME/jre/bin/javaws (depending on which kind of Java package you've installed).

Question : I have installed the Java Plugin from http://java.sun.com , but the applet does not work anyway.
